First Time Parents

It can be daunting choosing a medical provider for your first child! With so many names and practices in Boston, it can be difficult to know where to go.

Our pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners are sensitive to the needs and concerns of first-time parents. Our doctors provide care for newborns in the nursery at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. We are happy to assume care of infants born at other hospitals after they are discharged.

The Initial Visit

It all starts with giving us a call to register your child. The registration process takes about 10-15 minutes on the phone, please have your insurance information available.

After you have registered with us your next step is to fax, upload to MyChart, Mail, or drop off below:

  • Insurance cards
  • Complete immunization records
  • Medical records from your previous pediatrician

After we have received the above needed documents, you can call us to schedule your new patient appointment with one of our Medical Providers!

Welcome! Below we have answered a few commonly asked questions about our practice. We look forward to meeting you!

What insurance plans are accepted?

Brookline Pediatrics accepts most commercial insurance plans, and select public plans.

We always recommend that patients contact their insurance company to confirm that our providers are covered and to discuss how their insurance assigns patient cost-sharing and co-pays for services rendered at our office.

Selecting the correct Medicaid plan: The only MassHealth plan accepted by Brookline Pediatrics is the WellSense Boston Children's ACO

Is there parking available?

Getting to the office is convenient via public transportation (The Green Line- Kent Street stop) or by car. There is metered parking available on Beacon Street, we are on the 7th floor in Suite 7a.

Can I register my child before they are born?

To register your child as a patient, please call once your child is born. We unfortunately can’t do any registering ahead of time as we need to wait for their official date of birth! Our providers do round at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Beth Israel Hospital, so if you are giving birth at one of these facilities please let them know who your PCP is, and a provider will come meet you in the hospital before you go home. When we are able to register your child, please be aware this can take a few minutes as we will need to collect your demographic and insurance information. To ensure that your insurance is accepted here please call your insurance company ahead of time to verify.

What hours are you seeing patients? Are there sick children in the office when I bring my child in for their well visit?

We are in the office Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, typically appointments start at 9am. At this time we are doing our best to keep anyone with Covid symptoms separate from well children coming into the office. To ensure this we are doing our well visits in the mornings from 9am-1pm, and sick visits in the afternoons from 2pm-5pm. Our goal is to keep everyone happy and healthy!

Is there anyone available if we have questions when the office is closed?

After office hours and overnight we do have services available to answer urgent questions. You will call our main number and be instructed on how to reach the on-call provider (either by page or cell phone). After 9pm you will be directed to a nurse triage service for guidance or advice.

Can my child be seen on the weekend when they are sick?

Weekend coverage is shared with Centre Pediatrics. If your child needs to be seen for an urgent visit on a weekend or holiday, morning visits are available. Please call our main number to find out which office is on-call. We generally schedule patients; Centre Pediatrics typically holds a walk-in clinic. It is best to call as early as possible in order to ensure your child can be seen.

What are you policies on vaccines?

Our providers recommend that everyone stays up to date on vaccines per CDC childhood vaccination schedules.

Where do you refer patients to if they need to see a specialist?

We are part of the Pediatric Physicians’ Organization at Children’s Hospital, so we typically refer our patients to Boston Children’s Hospital for any specialty services. If a different specialist is preferred we are able to refer elsewhere.

Are there other ways to communicate other than calling the office?

We use MyChart as our online patient portal, which helps keep track of your children’s records and appointments. This can be used to communicate with your doctor rather than calling the office.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?

Any newborn documentation including vaccine records, as well as your insurance and demographic information.
